DStv Kenya, Multichoice’s pay-tv service, is one of the popular pay-tv service providers in Kenya.

The company has had a fall out with some of its customers over pricing issues in the past.

This may be due to the presence of cheaper alternatives such as Zuku and GOtv.

In 2015, DStv announced that it would be increasing its prices and as expected, this decision did not augur well with customers.

In an effort to win back customers, the company announced that it would be revising its prices. The pricing strategy was basically a roll-back to the pre-2015 price hike.

Regardless, DStv is the OG of the pay-tv business and among the best service providers, in terms of quality.

DSTV decoder prices in Kenya are above average when compared to those by service providers in the pay-tv business.

Initially, the DStv Zappa decoder, Dish, and installation cost Ksh. 6,400 but they were recently reduced to Ksh. 5, 000.

The unveiled cost will cover Zappa high definition decoder box, cabling, satellite dish and installation fee in addition to a one-month free viewing of the select product which includes, Access, Compact, Compact Plus, Family or Premium bouquet.

The DStv Explora decoder costs Ksh. 12, 500.This cost covers the decoder, cabling, and installation.

This decoder is pricier because it comes with additional features such as video rental services and personal video recorder.

Still, this is a bit high considering that most decoders from other pay- tv companies cost below Ksh. 4,000.

But at least they have their GOtv product; hence, they still claim a considerable audience.

The company has 6 pay-tv packages.

DSTV are mere jokers out to make money and not give good service to their customers. They are so mean.I have been their customer for more than 8 years but there is nothing that I can be proud of. Star times have been giving their customers at a lower fee (599/=) many live football matches frm serie A, league 1 and bundesliga every weekend…but dstv give us only one live premier league match every Saturday (on access 1050/=)….a match that is shown on many other stations. No action movies for access customers, why? They give us only one champions league… Read more »
