It’s almost fall, which means everyone has one question on their minds: What is the true song of the summer, the one tune that dominated the season?

MTV is doing its part to find out, by adding a fan-voted Best Song of the Summercategory to this year’s Video Music Awards. The network exclusively shared the bracket’s 12 contenders with Mashable.


Fans can vote for their pick via Instagram and Twitter, using hashtags associated with each song (i.e. #WorthItVMA). Each handle can vote only 12 times.

The nominees vying for the crown include Fifth Harmony, Major Lazer, Omi, Taylor Swift, David Guetta/Nicki Minaj, Fetty Wap, Skrillex/Diplo/Justin Bieber, 5 Seconds of Summer, Silento, Demi Lovato, The Weeknd and Selena Gomez/A$AP Rocky. Here are the songs that made the cut:
