KCSE Grading System 2019 pdf download for KNEC Exams in Kenya. In Kenya, the grading system varies according to the overall performance of candidates in the national exam called Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The 2019 KCSE exams whose results are set to be out by 21st December will use the following grading system.

KCSE Grading System 2019 Pdf: for the mean grade for absent candidates will be X while Y will be for those who will have some subjects canceled. If the entry requirements for KCSE exams were not met, the grade will be U while mean grade will be W if the exam results are withheld.

Upon the release of KCSE examinations, results will be accessed through the SMS number that will be provided during the official release of results.

For example, in 2006, a mean grade of A corresponded with 76 and upwards percentage points, while in 2007 it changed to 81 and upwards points. However, generally, the grading system is as follows:

According to KCSE Grading System 2019 Pdf, examinees are awarded an overall grade for the subjects examined. Students sit for 7, 8, or 9 subjects, but the overall grade and points are calculated from 7 subjects, as follows:

  • Three courses from Group 1: 101 English, 102 Kiswahili, and 121 Mathematics are required)
  • Two courses from Group 2: Biology, Physics, and Chemistry
  • One course from Group 3: History and Government, Geography, CRE/IRE/HRE
  • An additional course not among those mentioned above
