Admission Requirements

Those seeking admission to Egerton University should meet the following minimum entry requirements.

1. Certificate Programme

Mean grade of C- in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education

2. Diploma Programmes

Mean grade of C in KCSE or equivalent or certificate in a related field from a recognized training institution with a credit pass

3. Regular Degree Programmes

Candidates must posses a mean grade of KCSE C+ and above and subject cluster as set up by the Joint Admissions Board (JAB). In-service candidates must posses a diploma with a credit pass or equivalent.

4. Self Sponsored Degree Programmes

Candidates must posses a mean grade of C+ and above and a subject cluster of C+ and above in relevant field of study. A-level students with at least two principal passes may also be admitted. In-service candidates must posses at least a credit diploma from a recognized institution.

5. Postgraduate Degree Programmes

  • Masters – Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with at least 2nd class honours (upper division) or equivalent from Egerton University or other recognized university.
  • Ph. D – Minimum requirement is a Masters Degree in a relevant discipline from Egerton or any other recognized university.

Minimum Requirements: Minimum C (Plain) in KCSE, DIV III at KCE or equivalent qualifications: C- (Minus) in Mathematics, English/Kiswahili or Credit in Certificate in Business Administration from institutions recognized by Egerton University or Holder of Accounting Technician Certificate (ATC) Final Level

6 semesters (2 calendar year)

for Ksh. 36,000 tuition fee per semester

2. a. Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) Option; Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Operations Management, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Information, Cooperative & Micro Financing, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Mgt., Insurance & Risk Mgt.

b. Bachelor of Procurement & Supply Chain Management

c. Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Small Business

Management

Minimum Requirements: KCSE Mean of C+, C Plain in Mathematics and C plain in English/Kiswahili or holder of relevant Diploma with a Credit from a recognized institution.

8 semesters (2½  calendar years)

3. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Minimum Requirements: (i) Second Class Honours (Upper Division) (ii) Second Class Honours (Lower Division) with at least two (2) years relevant experience

FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

1. Certificate Course in:

(i) Criminology and Community Development

Minimum Requirements : Applicants must have K.C.S.E Mean Grade of D+ (plus)

2 semesters course (Day) for Kshs. 35,000 per semester
2. B.A (Criminology & Security Studies) Specialization options: (i) Rehabilitation & Probation Services

(ii) Security & Disaster Management (iii) Criminal and Forensic Investigation

Minimum Requirements: (i) K.C.S.E C+ (Plus) and C+ in English/Kiswahili (ii) Diploma in Criminology or Police Science with at least Credit or equivalent and K.C.S.E. C- (Minus)

8 semesters (2½  calendar years)

For Kshs. 50,000 tuition fee per semester

3. a) BSc. Economics & Statistics;

Minimum Requirements: K.C.S.E C+ and above. In addition, applicants must have at least the grade of B- (minus) in Mathematics and B (plain) in Economics/Commerce/Accounting /Business Studies. Holders of A-level qualifications with two principal passes in Economics or Mathematics will be considered.

8 semesters (2½  calendar years)

4. M.A in Criminology and Criminal Justice

Minimum Requirements:  Second Class Honours (Upper Division or Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in Arts, Criminology or Military Science with additional training in relevant options. Any other first degree with initial police training.

4 semesters

(Evening and weekend or weekends)

For Kshs 60,000 tuition fee per semester

5. M.A in Security Management

Minimum Requirements: Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in Arts, Criminology or Military Science with additional training in relevant options. Any other first degree with initial police training.

4 semesters

(Evening and weekend or weekends)

For Kshs 60,000 tuition fee per semester

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

(ii) Application forms may be obtained from: Admissions Office at Njoro Main Campus, Graduate School, Dean, Njoro Campus; Principal Nakuru Town Campus College and Egerton University City Campus Nairobi OR downloaded from the University website at www.egerton.ac.ke.

(iii) Application fee (non-refundable) of Kshs.2,000/= for Undergraduate/Postgraduate programmes and Kshs. 1,000/- for Diploma Programmes is payable to Egerton University Account Numbers KCB A/C No  1137209577, Egerton Branch.

(iv) Applicants are required to clearly indicate the programme applied for and mode of study.

(v) Duly completed forms and  original application fee Banking Slip attached should be sent to: –
