In line with Kenya’s Government efforts of streamlining the Public Service, the Government came up with a Policy on harmonising terms and conditions of service in the public service.This meant that as an initial step the salaries of civil servants in Job Group A -T have been realigned to restore harmony and equity in the Public Service Remuneration Structure and Banding system.
Job Groups and their Salaries in Kenya
The new salaries will apply to all officers in the civil service in Job Groups A – T who are paid by the Kenyan Government. These salaries will imply that those employees whose salaries are above these new rates shall continue to earn their current salaries while those whose current salaries are below the new salaries in their respective Job Groups will earn the new salaries.
The review of salaries in the Civil Service will in future be the responsibility of the recently created Salaries and Remuneration Commission of Kenya.It is expected that this will bring harmony and sanity to the Civil Service.
