How will the future of cars be like? Autonomous, electric or connected to the internet? To prove evolution in cars, BMW has decided to mark 100 years with self-driving sedan concept called the Vision Next 100. A car designed to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary – the future looks amazing already!
The BMW 100th birthday car of the future can either be autonomously or manually driven. The car has two modes: Boost mode for manual driving and Ease mode for autonomous.
When “ease mode,” is activated, the interior changes the shape whereby the steering wheel is taken away from the driver.
Alive Geometry technology that uses 800 triangles has also been integrated in the BMW autonomous which t will move around to interact and share information directly with the driver.
“At the BMW Group, we are always on a quest for the best solution. It’s part of our DNA,” said Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management, at the Munich event marking the centenary.
The resulting concept car is a sedan that has “coupé-type sportiness.” It assists the driver by, for instance, showing the ideal path on a highway and speed. But then for self-driving, it transforms. The steering wheel and center console retracts. The front passengers can face those in the rear seat.
“If, as a designer, you are able to imagine something, there’s a good chance it could one day become reality, So our objective with the BMW Vision Next 100 was to develop a future scenario that people would engage with.” said Adrian van Hooydonk.
