1. Natural Resource Scientist Interns – 10 positions

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will work under a senior and more experienced officer in the performance of their duties pertaining to the department; Specific duties and responsibilities will entail collecting and collating data and information related to environment and natural resource; Participating in awareness creation and advocacy, and Writing periodic reports.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above position, the candidate must have:-

  • Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines:
    • Environmental and Natural Resource Management,
    • Environmental Science,
    • Environmental Conservation,
    • Environmental Resource Conservation or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized university/institution;
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

2. Human Resource Management Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a more senior officer in a section within Human Resource Division; Specific duties and responsibilities will entail verification of information relating to recruitment, appointment, transfers, Human Resource Management Records, and Compliment control: processing cases for the Ministerial Human Resource Management Advisory Committee and assisting in the implementation of the decisions.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above position, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences such as Government, Sociology, and Economics, Public/Business Administration.
  • Human Resource/Personnel Management or any other relevant qualification from a recognized
  • University/institution; and Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

3. Economist/Statistician Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve: – providing economic planning data; economic analysis; collection, collation, computerization, and analysis of data; writing and submitting reports on specific assignments.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above positions, a candidate must have:-

  • A minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Economics, or Economics and Mathematics, or Economic and Statistics from a recognized university/institution; or
  • A minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours degree in any of the subjects enumerated at above with a bias towards Computer Science, Operations Research, Survey Techniques and Demographic Techniques from a recognized university/institution; or
  • A minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Statistics with appropriate specialization from a recognized university/institution; or
  • A postgraduate Bachelor of Philosophy degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi or equivalent institution or a postgraduate diploma or Master’s degree in subjects enumerated at (i) — (iii) above.
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

4. Accounts Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting work under the guidance of a senior officer. Work will involve preparation and verification of vouchers in accordance with laid down regulations involving primary data entry and routine accounting work such as balancing of cashbooks, imprest and advances ledgers.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above position, a candidate must be in possession of either:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) from a recognized institution or any other relevant equivalent qualification. OR
  • A pass in part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or it’s recognized equivalent qualifications.
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

5. Public Communication Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

assisting in building corporate relations; developing content on topical issues for uploading into institutional websites, Information Education Communication (IEC) materials and undertaking media monitoring; assisting in the preparation of media reviews, briefs, press releases/statements, and supplements; maintaining public relations records and documents; and participating in event organization.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above positions, a candidate must have:-

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies, Photojournalism from a recognized institution; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science with a Postgraduate Diploma in Photojournalism, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies from a recognized institution; and
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

6. Public Administration Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:- general office administration; assisting in handling general public complaints; compiling returns, daily operational and incident reports; collecting and collating data for preparation of speech briefs and report writing.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above positions, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Social Science or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

7. Information Communication Technology Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include writing and testing simple computer programs according to instructions and specifications; assisting in the implementation of the computer systems; providing user support and training of users; repairs and maintenance of ICT equipment and associated peripherals; monitoring the performance of ICI equipment; and reporting any faults for further action.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above positions, a candidate must have:-

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean-grade C plain with at least a C- in mathematics and English/ Kiswahili or its approved equivalent.
  • Diploma in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic engineering or its equivalent qualification from a university

8. Supply Chain Management Interns – 2 positions

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017

Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will be deployed in a Supply Chain Management unit and will handle a variety of tasks such as issuing and receiving stores; assisting in stock taking, reconciliation, preparation and maintenance of records.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above positions, a candidate must have:

  • A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (minus) with a minimum of C- in Mathematics and English or Kiswahili or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution; and
  • A Diploma (CIPS) in Supplies Management or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution 4. Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

9. Finance Interns

Job Description

DETAILS OF THE POSTS: VACANCY – 1/2017 Terms of Engagement – Contract for a period of six (6) months

Duties and Responsibilities

An intern at this level will work under a more senior officer.

Specific duties and responsibilities at this level shall include:

  • Compiling and formatting financial estimates;
  • Taking initial action on budget monitoring; and
  • Preparing reports and briefs on budgetary policy issues.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the above position, a candidate must be in possession of either:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas: Commerce (Finance option), Economics, Business Administration, Business Management or Finance. OR
  • Any other Bachelors degree with certified Public Accountant II (CPA II) qualification
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from a recognized institution.
